Flats
Yes I said my next review was gonna be the Thirsties Duo Diaper Size 2, but it is dirty right now, so will have to wait til after washday. ;-) So I'm gonna go over flats and my experience and thoughts on them. Over the next couple days I'm going to show how to do some different folds for flats. I am loving flats and prefolds lately. I have to go get some more pins (as I have grown to like those too). Although snappis are probably preferable by most people, give pins a try. I have both and use both and like them. Over the next few days I am going to be taking pictures/tutorials of different folds and posting them on here for you. So keep checking back. :-)

Thirsties Duo Diaper size 1
Here are my thoughts on the Thirsties Duo Diaper size 1 (in the cute ocean blue color) I bought both a size 1 and 2 for my 2 boys, I will be reviewing how the size 1 did on my now 12 week old baby boy. I will do the size 2 next. Let me start off by saying, I love this diaper. It holds in poo wonderfully. It is very absorbant. And also comes in cute colors and prints. :-) Gotta love the cute cloth bottoms. hehe. So here goes:
This diaper is sized from 6-18lbs. My little one started wearing it at 10lbs he is now 13 lbs and we have only used the middle rise setting and I believe we will be moving to the largest setting next time we wear it. Next time this is clean I will add a picture of it on the largest setting for you. I love that insert comes out in the wash, you don't have to pull it out when putting in your pail. It has a big size pocket opening, so even a daddy could stuff it. There is elastic not only on the legs and back, but on the front as well. There are leg gussets to hold in the poo, and they work quite well. I love leg gusset's on a diaper. I did not use this on my baby as a newborn as I just got it about 5 weeks ago. But I think that on the first rise setting it would've fit well on my 8lb newborn, unlike the OS dipes I had.
Here is the largest rise setting:
Here are the soakers snapped together. The one on top is the hemp/cotton one. When putting in the diaper put the microfiber side up and the hemp one towards the PUL. The hemp will hold a lot of liquid, while the microfiber will absorb quickly. This combination works really well together.
Here are the soakers unsnapped lying side by side.
Here is a picture of the Aplix. This diaper only comes in Aplix, but it's a pretty decent. I have a duo wrap in aplix that has been used quite a bit and it has held up really well. The laundry tabs do hold them well.
This diaper is definitely trim, it helps that the Thirsties are a 2 size system. Not all the excess bulk you can get from a OS (which I don't find to be a problem, but some people don't like that).
Here is the diaper on the 2nd rise setting on my 13lbish son. It could almost go up to the next rise setting I think.

Considering Cloth Diapering
Have you considered cloth diapers? Or maybe you haven't even heard about them. Well I want to tell you that you should. There are sooo many different options these days. Not just the old fashioned prefolds/flats, which are great though. I will be doing reviews on all different kinds of diapers that I have tried, and some I LOVE and some not so much. :-) But I will be sure and tell you why, so you can decide whether it'd be for you or not. I will also try and include pics with them. I will be testing these out on my 2 boys. Contact me with ANY questions you may have.
Maclaren Triumph Twin
We just bought the Maclaren Triumph twin stroller http://us.maclarenbaby.com/twin-triumph?lang=en for our lightweight stroller needs, have a wonderful Baby Jogger Summit XC double (will review that later), but wanted something smaller also. I like this stroller, it seems to be the sturdiest of umbrella strollers we've looked at. The handlebars are taller (great for my 6'5" hubby) and nice for me, some I even have to slouch over to reach the handlebars. I am only 5'7" so average height for a female I would guess. The basket is an okay size. It will hold a purse and/or small diaper bag depending on size of bag(s). It can be hard to reach when the seat is fully reclined. The seats have 2 positions, up and flat (well almost flat). The stroller weighs 23 lbs and will hold up to 110lbs of kiddo. Independent canopy's, they don't cover a whole lot, but it's pretty good for an umbrella stroller. The buckle's are great!! Kiddos will have a hard time undoing them which is definitely what you want for a rambunctious toddler. :-) There are no parent cup holders that come standard on it, but you can purchase one separately which holds bottles and has a few pockets (I don't have this yet). There are 2 pockets on back of seats and these are great for putting your keys or phone in, anything you need to be able to grab quickly. When the seat is laid down you can lift up the top of the seat and it allows air movement to keep baby cool on those HOT days. Which we are definitely have a lot of lately. Overall I really like this stroller. I would only use it for quick runs into the mall or somewhere where I don't need many diapers etc. I just grab a few and throw the changing stuff into the basket. We have also taken this on vacation when we were short on room and couldn't bring the big stroller. It is easy to load in and out. It retails for $260. I would say it's worth the extra money over the "other" double umbrella strollers that are cheaper, but don't have as nice of features (sturdiness, taller handlebars, etc). Check this stroller out! I will try and post a picture of mine in action when we get back home from vacation! (We brought our jogger with us this time)
Just getting started
Hey Everybody,
I am a cloth diaper loving, baby wearing mommy to 2 great boys and proud wife to my loving hubby. I have been wanting to start up a blog for sometime now, with reviews of all the baby products I have and continue to get and just useful information for being a wife and mommy. :-) I will be trying to post things here regularly, so hopefully you'll stick around and see what I have to post about. Thanks!
